Member of Parliament for Efutu, lawyer Afenyo Markins, has joined the Free Mason brotherhood.

Photos of the Effuttu MP in his freemason attire have hit the internet, and Ghanaians have mixed feelings. Afenyo Markins is not the first Ghanaian politician to join the brotherhood.

Ghana’s former President John Agyekum Kuffour is a member of the brotherhood. The Brotherhood, according to members, is a noble group like the Christian church.

The internet has reacted to the picture of Afenyo Markins joining the Free Mason community. One Netizen accused the Efutu of being power drunk. According to him, the Free Mason gives the MP to make human sacrifices without fear.

Ghana’s Freemasonry history dates back to the early nineteenth century when the country’s first Masonic lodge was established.

During the British colonial period, European residents brought the practice of Freemasonry to the Gold Coast and other Commonwealth territories.

Currently, Freemasonry is a large movement in Ghana with prominent personalities like Otumfuor Osei Tutu II and former President Kufuor being members.
