Five killed and 16 injured in a gorry accident in Benue, Nigeria. An overspeeding vehicle rammed into a road market in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State.
The accident occurred around 7 pm on Tuesday, May 31, when the driver of the vehicle lost control due to brake failure, in front of Temperance hotel in Akaajime area of Gboko. The five killed at the spot were sitting by their products waiting for customers.

According to an eyewitness, the vehicle was coming from Gboko town to Mkar when the incident happened.
Five people were killed on the spot, and 16 people were injured and receiving treatment at private hospitals in Gboko. There are 12 injured people at St. Joseph and four others at Atuna hospitals in Gboko receiving treatment. He explained.
Some of the victims have been identified as Manasseh Shima Buty Ukor, Terseer Pever, and Iember Wan Ipav. Chairman of Gboko local government, James Kachina who confirmed the incident on Wednesday said 16 people were injured.
The eyewitness explained further, saying the five killed would be buried this evening because of their religious affiliation.
